SECURITY DISCLAIMER

Important Security Disclaimers

Please read these security disclaimers carefully. TheScanQR is designed to inspect QR codes and highlight potential red flags, but it is not an all-encompassing security guarantee.

TheScanQR is an Inspection Tool, Not a Security Guarantee

Our scanner decodes QR code contents locally and inspects the resulting URL against common warning patterns. It gives you the information needed to evaluate a link before opening it, but a 'Safe' verdict does not mean a destination is guaranteed to be harmless.

What Our Security Checks Cannot Detect

Automated checks cannot detect zero-day phishing attacks, newly registered malicious domains with valid HTTPS certificates, compromised legitimate servers, or social engineering scams that present convincing login screens.

HTTPS Does Not Equal Safety

Modern phishing websites frequently utilize free HTTPS certificates. A green lock or HTTPS protocol indicates encrypted communication with the host, but does not verify the integrity or honest intentions of the site operator.

What You Should Do

Always read the full domain name carefully. Be wary of unexpected prompts for credit cards, passwords, two-factor authentication codes, or urgent demands for action.

Common QR Code Scam Types

Watch out for physical sticker overlays on legitimate parking meters or posters, unsolicited codes sent via text or email, codes requesting payments to personal cryptocurrency addresses, and codes prompting app downloads outside official stores.

No Malware Detection

TheScanQR does not download or execute remote files, inspect binaries for viruses, or perform active sandbox detonation. You must maintain active antivirus protection on your device.

Use at Your Own Risk

Your interaction with any destination URL decoded by TheScanQR is entirely at your own risk. TheScanQR and its creators accept no liability for any loss, damages, or compromise incurred.

When in Doubt, Don't Proceed

If an unexpected QR code feels out of place, do not open the link. Navigate to the organization's verified official website directly through your browser or contact them through confirmed channels.
